Make your own hummus, and avoid the plastic deli container! A food processor makes it easy.


  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 2 cans garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1/4 – 1/2 c. tahini
  • lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • salt


Chop the garlic in the food processor. Add the garbanzo beans, a couple dollops of tahini, a few shakes of salt, and some lemon juice; process. With the blade running, slowly drizzle in some olive oil. Process till smooth, adding some water if you want a lighter consistency. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Serve with veggies (carrots, celery, broccoli), tortilla chips, or pita points.
